Taizhou, located in the middle part of the coast of Zhejiang Province and in the southern wing of Shanghai Economic Zone, it has jurisdiction over the 3 districts of Jiaojiang, Luqiao and Huangyan, the 2 county-level cities of Linhai and Wenling, and the 4 counties of Sanmen, Xianju, Yuhuan and Tiantai. With the rapid economic growth, there appeared an industry cluster centralizing on processing and producing nonferrous metals and ferrous metals in Taizhou. For example, there has formed hardware processing and producing clusters, such as fittings for water pipe and valves in Yuhuan, electrical wire, electrical cable, electric machine in Luqiao, air compressor, water pump in Wenling, motor and motorcycle parts in Huangyan, Luqiao and Yuhuan. Scrap metals recycling industry of Taizhou, centered in disassembling domestic waste products, began from the end of 1970s, now there are 48 specified enterprises appointed by State Environmental Protection Administration. Most of them are centralize in or around the Secondary Resource Processing Garden. In 2005, importation amounted to 1.2 million tons, among which, 70% was disassembled by the top 10 enterprises. There is a complete production train from recycling, dismantling, trading and deep-processing. The recycling industry of Taizhou has accelerated the regional economy, and also provided cheap raw materials for foundry, die-casting, smelting and manufacturing enterprises.
